Elgin County Library in partnership with the West Elgin Community Health Centre (WECHC) and VON Canada offers Book 2 Go, a FREE service that delivers library materials to those in need.
Who is eligible?
How to participate?
Those looking to participate in the service can register using ANY of the following options:
Do I have to be a library card holder to participate?
Current patrons are eligible, however if you are not a current card holder you will be registered for a card which can be done by one of the visiting volunteers. There is no cost for a library card.
How does it work?
Volunteers from the partnering VON and WECHC programs will pick up library materials from your closest branch, and deliver them to your door. They will pick up materials you are finished with and return them on the next visit. You can put materials on hold using our online catalogue, or our knowledgeable staff can select interesting materials based on your genre preferences. Although the materials will be picked up from a branch closest to your home, materials from ANY of our 10 branches are available for checkout.
I’m not a big reader, can I still participate?
Yes! Movies, music CDs, magazines, TV shows, books on CD and many of our unique items are available for checkout through the program as well as books. In addition, if the Internet is available at your home you have access to many of our online resources including: eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, online learning tools and more.
What if I miss my visit? Is there a fine?
There are no late fines associated with the program but they do have a 28 day loan period. Lost and damaged materials however, will be charged with a replacement fee.
