Let's Work Together to Keep our Communities Safe

COUNTY OF ELGIN – The media has been very interested in the number of cases that we have in Elgin County.  Our case count has grown recently and as of today, there are 54 active cases in Elgin County.  This is our strong signal that your continued caution and adherence to public health protocols and mandatory face coverings in enclosed public spaces is needed!  Municipalities across Elgin County continue to work closely with Southwestern Public Health to find solutions and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

There are a number of things you can to do stop the spread.  The best way to keep your risk profile low and to stop the spread in our community is to follow all the public health protocols and wear a face covering to protect others.  Your own safety depends on how closely you follow public health protocols and how you support and encourage others to do the same.  We are all in this together.

The reality is that the virus could be lurking anywhere, even in communities that don’t have active cases – with this in mind, we ask that you continue, more than ever, to support our local businesses.  They need your support and every dollar you spend has the most impact closest to home.  Please remember to treat those that serve you with kindness and respect as they enforce local by-law orders.

The County encourages residents to download the Federal government’s COVID Alert App to helps us break the cycle of infection. The app can let people know of possible exposures before any symptoms appear.

I can’t say it enough, thank you everyone who has stepped up to continue to do what is necessary to keep our families and friends safe.  We are strong, we care about our neighbours, and together, we will continue the momentum of our progress so far to carry us through to recovery.
