Clachan Road Bridge Closure over the Thames River

November 2, 2022
For Immediate Release

Central Elgin, ON – Contractors working on the Clachan Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project on the border of West Elgin & Chatham-Kent have worked diligently over the past eight (8) months to complete this project. Due to labour and material shortages and challenges relating to the bridge’s original construction, the initial completion date has been pushed back to the first week in December.

The estimated completion date for the rehabilitation of the Clachan Road Bridge was the end of October 2022. However, the majority of the work has been completed; with galvanized steel railings; waterproofing, and paving to be completed in the coming weeks. The bridge is anticipated to be open to traffic the week of December 5, 2022.

A section of Clachan Road from the Bridge over the Thames River to Longwoods Road will be rehabilitated in the Spring of 2023.
