Central Elgin, ON The County of Elgin is delighted to announce the successful completion of the extensive rehabilitation project on Ron McNeil Line (County Road 52), a crucial infrastructure initiative. This accomplishment was made possible through the generous $1.65 million grant provided by the Canada Community-Building Fund, administered by the Association of Municipalities (AMO).

Ron McNeil Line, an 8.12 km rural arterial road, connects Belmont Road and Imperial Road, serving the Municipality of Central Elgin and the Township of Malahide. The last significant construction on this roadway occurred in 1988, necessitating a substantial investment to ensure its rehabilitation and long-term viability.

The reconstruction of Ron McNeil Line included innovative methods such as cold in-place asphalt recycling and a new asphalt overlay, complete with granular shouldering, with a total project cost of $1.86 million. This investment reflects the County of Elgin’s commitment to maintaining and improving the vital infrastructure that connects various communities.

Warden Ed Ketchabaw shared his thoughts on how this endeavour positively impacts the residents of Elgin County, “The rehabilitation of Ron McNeil Line is a testament to our dedication to the well-being of our residents. By proactively investing in Elgin’s core infrastructure, we are not only ensuring the safety and efficiency of our roadways but also enhancing the overall livability of the area. This project is a step towards a brighter future for our community.”

Completing this project represents a significant milestone in the County of Elgin’s ongoing dedication to enhance the infrastructure that plays a vital role in the daily lives of its residents.
