A Symbol of Healing: Elgin County Raised the Every Child Matters Flag

On Friday, September 29th, Warden Ed Ketchabaw raised the Every Child Matters flag at the County of Elgin to recognize 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

By raising this flag, Elgin County is committed to taking the journey to promote healing, respect and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

To help further the conversation about Residential Schools and reconciliation, Warden Ketchabaw provided remarks to staff about the importance of reflecting on the painful history of our neighbours and Indigenous communities across Canada not only today, but every day.

Below is a picture of Warden Ed Ketchabaw with Councillor Couckuyt and Councillor Widner with the Every Child Matters flag, as well as a photo of staff members in their orange shirts.
