To align with these changes, today (May 21, 2021), the Ministry of Long-Term Care has provided Long-Term Care Homes, with information regarding changes to outdoor visits for general visitors and essential caregiver visitors.

While these changes are exciting for residents, families/visitors, and staff, Long Term-Care Homes are required to develop, communicate and implement plans and processes to support outdoor visits.

The County of Elgin Homes are working to review the updated documents and to develop strategies to safely and effectively implement the changes.

We are looking forward to resuming outdoor visits as soon as possible and thank you for your patience as we work towards safely implementing outdoor visits for both general visitors and essential caregiver visitors.

It is hoped that processes and plans for outdoor visits can be developed quickly and implemented to begin no later than May 28, 2021.  Additional information regarding the details of outdoor visits (who can visit, when and where visits may occur, how to schedule a visit, etc.) will be provided early next week.

If you have any questions regarding visiting, absences and infection prevention and control measures please feel free to speak to a manager of the Home.

Sincerely,

Michele Harris, Director of Homes and Seniors Services
