The 2010 International Plowing Match

The 2010 International Plowing Match will be held in Elgin County on lands adjacent to the St. Thomas Municipal Airport. The chosen site includes the properties of ten landowners and is bounded by Highway 3 (north), Quaker Road (east), Elm Street (south), and Centennial Road (west).

The County of Elgin has pledged a $100,000 loan to support the project, and the City of St. Thomas has committed the use of the airport property.

Former Elgin County Warden Duncan J. McPhail serves as Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, which also includes Linda Prong, Ontario’s first Queen of the Furrow (crowned at the 1960 IPM in Elgin County).

Event organizers predict that the 2010 IPM will attract in excess of 100,000 visitors to the St. Thomas-Elgin region.
