Spring into Gardening with ECL
As the weather warms up we’re ready to head out into the garden and start preparing for the growing season in Ontario. Whether you’re looking for ways to step up your lawn game, plant a few flowers, or hoping to feed yourself and your family from your vegetable patch, we have resources to help!
Did you know?
Many experts ask that you don’t start preparing your garden until temperatures are consistently over 10 degrees Celsius to give insects time to wake up and vacate any nests they have wintered in.

Books, magazines and more on gardening
We put together a special email newsletter featuring gardening books we think could be helpful. Browse the book covers below or take a look at the whole newsletter here: Spring Gardening 2025.

Are you interested in starting a native garden or pollinator garden but don’t know where to start? Our local naturalist group, Otter Valley Naturalists, will have members on hand to give guided tors of the native plant gardens they recently installed at the Straffordville Library. A great opportunity to get a first-hand look at plants suitable for our area, enjoy some light refreshments and ask any questions you may have. Choose the date most convenient for you! All ages welcome! Registration is not required. Please calling the Straffordville Library at 519-866-3584 with any questions.
