The meeting scheduled for November 28, 2023, marks the end of the one-year term for the position of Warden. The Annual Warden’s Election will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. the meeting will resume on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.

?????? ?? ?????? ??????????? ?????? – Highway 4 Widening and Proposed Talbotville Bypass & Highway 3 Twinning (August 17th)

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Stantec Consulting Ltd. to complete the Preliminary Design, Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study (Class EA) for improvements to Highway 3 from Highway 4 to Centennial Avenue (St. Thomas). A Public Information Centre (PIC) is being held on August 17th to provide the public and stakeholders with an opportunity to review the transportation needs assessment, existing conditions, alternatives to the undertaking and comment on project activities to date.

Fire Ban in Effect – Elgin County

Effective immediately, all open-air and recreational fires are prohibited anywhere in the City of St. Thomas, Town of Aylmer and the Townships and Municipalities within the County of Elgin. Open air fires are defined as any fire outside of a building and include bonfires, campfires, burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces/chimineas or any other fires set in open air.

The County of Elgin is reminding residents ahead of Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week, May 7 – 13, 2023, about the importance of preparing themselves and their families for a wide range of potential emergency situations. EP Week is a nationwide initiative that aims to raise awareness about emergency preparedness in Canada.

Elgin County Honours Fallen Workers on National Day of Mourning with Black Flag Raising Ceremony

Today, April 28, 2023, the County of Elgin raised a black flag in front of the Elgin County Heritage Centre to observe the National Day of Mourning. April 28th is a day that commemorates workers who have been killed, injured, or suffered illnesses due to workplace incidents or exposures. According to the Canadian Labour Congress, approximately 1,000 workers in Canada die annually, with even more enduring life-altering injuries and illnesses on the job.
