Donating Records

Elgin County Archives is committed to preserving and making available Elgin County’s archival heritage, and we welcome new acquisitions that meet the terms of our Acquisition Policy. New donations are accepted after considering several criteria, including the relevancy to the history of the County of Elgin, physical condition, storage needs, and rarity, among other considerations.

If items are accepted into our collection, the donor must sign a  Deed of Gift. This ensures that records received will form a permanent part of our collection, guaranteeing their long-term preservation and availability to researchers.

To discuss whether we are a suitable repository for your archival records, please contact our Archivist by emailing archives@elgin.ca.
