Provincial Offences Administration Building – Grand Opening

New Prosecutor/Solicitor – Jack Huber

Stephen Gibson, County Solicitor, introduced the County of Elgin’s new Prosecutor/Solicitor, Jack Huber. Elgin County Council and staff wish Mr. Huber all the best in his new role.

Policy Updates

Elgin County Council approved several policy updates regarding Asbestos in Buildings, Social Media, Homes and Senior Services, and Fund Development Gift Acceptance. In addition, a new Council Committee By-law was enacted and revisions were made to Council’s Procedural By-law. These can be found in the complete November 26, 2019 County Council Agenda package.

YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin – Terrace Lodge Pool Agreement

Elgin County Council authorized staff to sign a one (1) year agreement with the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin for use of the Terrace Lodge pool for community supervised aquatic programs.

Contractor Selected – Village of Sparta Reconstruction Project

Elgin County Council has selected Bre-Ex Construction Inc. for the Village of Sparta Reconstruction project. The total cost of this contract is $2,108,457.08 (excluding HST).

2019 Elgin County Warden Duncan McPhail

Warden, Duncan McPhail, commended Council on an exceptional year. Warden McPhail is proud of what Council has accomplished thus far.
