As a result of concerns voiced by several local residents, County of Elgin committed to evaluating and analyzing the posted speed limits on Sunset Drive beginning at East Road and extending to the Village of Port Stanley. It is anticipated that a report from the County Engineer will be considered by County Council at their meeting on September 10, 2019.
Planning work for the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment project continues. Staff have identified opportunities to complete the project in three phases instead of four which is expected to shorten the overall project by several months. The project architect’s detailed design work is ongoing and construction is anticipated to begin in the Spring of 2020. The Steering Committee has achieved a project milestone with the completion and submission of a mandatory Operational Plan to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Once construction of the new Port Bruce bridge is complete, County staff recommended that the temporary panel bridge currently servicing Port Bruce be repurposed to replace an existing County bridge. After considering four options, Council determined that Meeks Bridge, which crosses Kettle Creek on Sparta Line, will be the location selected for the temporary panel bridge currently being used in Port Bruce.
