Following the collapse of the Imperial Road Bridge in Port Bruce over Catfish Creek, the County of Elgin will be installing a temporary bridge to service the community of Port Bruce in the Township of Malahide. This modular bridge will be installed using the Bank Street/Dexter Line former bridge crossing of Catfish Creek. Construction of this temporary bridge will begin in June.
Traffic from Imperial Line will be redirected onto Bank Street crossing Catfish Creek using a single lane temporary bridge to connect with Dexter Line on the south side. The crossing will be controlled by traffic signals. Local streets on the south side of Catfish Creek (Colin Street and Dexter Line) will be converted to one-way streets and/or have restricted access to reduce the impact on the community. On-street parking will be prohibited on all streets that form part of the detour plan. It is anticipated the temporary bridge will be installed and open to traffic by August of this year.
A PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION to discuss this project will be held on MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the EAST ELGIN COMMUNITY COMPLEX, BLUELINE ROOM, 2nd FLOOR, located at 531 Talbot Street West, (Highway 3), Aylmer. All local residents and any other persons with an interest in this project are invited to attend.
