Councillor Mennill originally was elected in 1977 and served until 1987 when he stepped down because of family commitments and the demands of farming.  Now, ‘semi-retired’ with a grown family, he is serving Malahide Township and the County of Elgin.

Mr. Mennill continued to be active in the community, serving on the Malahide #1 Fire Department for 32 years, the final years as a fire chief.  He was also a member of the County Land Division Committee for 10 years.  In addition to being a County Councillor, Mr. Mennill is the Past President of the Foundation for the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.  Other community involvement includes working with the Corner Cupboard, Christmas Care and fundraising for the East Elgin Community Complex.  He is a member of the Aylmer Curling Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Councillor Mennill and his wife, Judy, have been residents of Malahide Township for over 50 years; their family farm is on Vienna Line.  Their daughter Rita and son-in-law Will have two children, Lauren and Aidan.

Councillor Mennill serves on the Human Resource, the POA Court Facility, and the Terrace Lodge Building Committees.
