Springfield Lioness Issue Fundraising Challenge to Elgin County Service Clubs

Springfield Lioness Cheque presentation

Rosemary Kennedy and Kelly Pearson of the Springfield Lioness present a cheque for $1,600 to Elgin County Councillor Dominique Giguère, Chair of the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee.

The Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee is pleased to announce that the Springfield Lioness (soon to be renamed Springfield Swans) have donated $1,600 to the Terrace Lodge Fundraising Campaign and are challenging other Elgin County service clubs to donate as well.

This generous donation will go towards the purchase of an electric fireplace and two outdoor benches for the redeveloped facility, scheduled to be completed in 2023.

“As with most service clubs, assisting the community is a directive of the Springfield Lioness, and the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment is a fantastic way for our club to support the citizens of Malahide Township and all of Elgin County” said the past president Kelly Pearson, to which Rosemary Kennedy, the club’s secretary added: “We understand the difficulties in being able to fundraise due to the pandemic, but we know in our hearts that other service clubs in Elgin County can somehow raise the money to meet our challenge of matching or exceeding our donation of $1,600.  Together we can do this. As a long-time Lioness club member said at a meeting “Who knows?  We may all end up being residents of Terrace Lodge at some stage of our life.   We need to support this project”.

“On behalf of the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee I would like to sincerely thank the Springfield Lioness for this donation. Their commitment and enthusiasm for this important community project is inspiring, as is all that they do in Malahide. This donation takes us one step closer to realizing our vision of providing residents of Terrace Lodge the Comforts of Home in a state-of-the-art facility,” said Elgin County Councillor Dominique Giguère, Chair of the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee. “I am confident that all other clubs across the County will rise to the challenge launched by Springfield.”

“As we continue this journey to implement a life-changing approach to senior care we need the support of our community. Terrace Lodge is operated by the County of Elgin but we want to emphasize that it is a Home that belongs to the community as a whole.”

The fundraising campaign entitled “The Comforts of Home” is raising money to purchase the value-added items that will make the newly redeveloped facility feel like home for the residents that live there. A virtual catalogue has been developed to allow for online donations (www.donatetoterracelodge.ca) and donations by cash or cheque can be made through any Member of the Fundraising Committee.
