Councillor Jenkins has previously served a term on Elgin County Council and has recently returned to fill a vacancy. He currently serves on the Police Services Board, the Terrace Lodge Building Committee and the Water Advisory Board. 

Beginning in 2015 Councillor Jenkins served as a member of the Elgin County Land Division Committee and was Chair of the Committee until recently when he left to return to County Council. In the past he has sat on the Elgin County Museum and Elgin Public Art Centre Committees. During his previous term on Malahide Township Council he was a committee member of the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority and the East Elgin Community Complex Advisory Committee. 

During his life long career as a Dairy Farmer (from which he is now retired) Councillor Jenkins had the privilege of serving on county, regional and provincial boards connected to that industry. 

Councillor Jenkins is married to Jeanette and they have two daughters: Megan,a CPA and Kate, who works in university communications. Councillor Jenkins and his wife are very active in their church and for the past two years have been volunteering at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Friday afternoons. 

He is a proud graduate of Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology.
