What is netLibrary?

netLibrary is an online collection of electronic books (eBooks). There is a broad range of topics, including fiction and even non-fiction titles covering medicine, computers,  history, and psychology. There is also a public domain collection featuring classics that are available free to everyone.

Sample Subjects & Series

• Resumés

• Information Technology

• Job Hunting

• Business

• Cliffs Notes

• Travel

• Harold Bloom

• Science

• Complete Idiot's Guides

• Classic Literature... and more!

eBooks are available on all public computers in the branch libraries, where you can read online through a Web browser. The books can also be read from home using your own computer.

Please note - only 1 person may check out an eBook at any given time. The check out period for eBooks is only 2 hours. If you receive a message that an eBook is unavailable, you can click on a link to Request to be Notified when the book is returned. You will be asked to enter your e-mail address and will be alerted as soon as the eBook is available.

How do I find books on netLibrary?

eBooks can be searched by author, title, keyword or even by keyword within a book's full text.

  • If you know the exact Title or Author of the book you are searching, enter it in the field provided, fill in the circle beside either Title or Author, and click on the Search button.

  • If you do not know the Title or Author, try a Keyword search (i.e. resumes).

  • You can use the asterisk (*) symbol to look for different forms of words. For example, in the above search, you would only find eBooks containing the plural form of "resumes". To find books containing either resume (singular) or resumes (plural), use the asterisk and search for resume* in the Keyword field.

  • You can also try a Full Text search of all eBooks. You can use quotation marks for phrase searches (i.e. "job hunting"). Remember that terms must appear in the eBooks exactly as you type them in a full text search, so you may also want to try searching for synonyms or related words or phrases (i.e. "applying for jobs").

  • Click on the Advanced Search tab for more search options.

  • More Search Tips are available by clicking on the link on the right side of the screen.
