The St. Thomas fund has already been boosted by a Ford donation totalling $6,800. Of this, $5,000 was given by employees and $1,800 by the company."

According to one Salvation Army official present, the motor company employees were 'very generous' in their contributions towards relief for the need at Christmas. Above, Capt. Michel Daigle, who is recovering from burns suffered during the blaze, is an assembler in the chassis department at the Ford plant. Above, Ron Tobin, a union representative, accepts a contribution for the family while another member holds a sign."

Photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 11, 1981 with caption: "Ford Donates to Library - Dave Gorman, plant manager of the St. Thomas Ford Assembly Plant, presents a cheque for $830 to Julie Siegel, centre, adult services librarian, and Carolyn Kneeshaw, chief librarian of the St. Thomas Public Library, for purchase of a film, The Road to Happiness. The film, which is about Henry Ford, is a birthday present to St. Thomas for the centennial, and will be available for loan."

The money was used to sponsor a Ford Fire Prevention classroom at the Village, for use in educating area school children.
