Elgin County Council Document Search

Laserfiche WebAccess serves as the County of Elgin’s electronic document management system. All Elgin County Council minutes and by-laws from 1852 to the present as well as agenda packages from 1998 to the present are available for searching and viewing. Some of the County's local municipalities also have documents such as minutes and by-laws posted on the system.

General key word searches can be conducted by entering the word(s) in the "Search repository" box and clicking on the icon or hitting enter. One or more key words can be entered as a phrase. Keep in mind that it is always better to start with as few words as possible. Fine-tuned searching can be done by placing an asterisk (otherwise known as wildcards) on either side of the search term. This will instruct the software to search for the word or phrase either on its own or within another word. For instance, a search of the word *ship* will also generate results for "shipping", "township" and so on. Clicking on the "fuzzy search" box will cause the software to search not only for the word or phrase, but also words that are spelled similarly.

Search results are listed by document. Clicking on the except will then open up the page in the document where the search term appears.

More customizable features such as limiting searches to a particular folder are possible and further information can be obtained by reading "Searching in Web Access 8" .
