Councillor Acre is a Certified Educational Assistant with the Thames Valley District School Board.

Councillor Acre holds a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and an EA Certificate from Fanshawe College.

Councillor Acre has been married for 32 years to Lewis and they have four children and two grandchildren.

Councillor Acre was the 2007 Warden of Elgin County Council.  In addition to being a County Councillor, Mrs. Acre serves as an active member of the Bayham Tourism and Marketing Committee and as an active member of Museums Bayham, which includes the Edison Museum of Vienna and the Port Burwell Marine Museum.  Mrs. Acre has the distinction of being the first woman elected in the Municipality of Bayham and the second woman to hold the position of Warden of Elgin County.

Councillor Acre serves as a County Council representative on the County of Elgin Economic Development and Tourism Advisory Committee, the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Board, and represents the County on the Elgin-St. Thomas Physician Recruitment Committee.
